The traditional Ukrainian marching song Zaporozsky brings us in a typical Eastern European atmosphere and spontaneously calls nostalgic feelings up. John Smits managed to arrange this fine theme in a most original way with a fine trumpet solo part both in the introduction and the finale. The woodblock almost continuously marks the beat of galopping cavalrymen riding in the Steppes.
