Sonata for violin and piano A minor, op. 18

The Sonata for Violin and Piano in A minor, op. 18 (The full title of the work mentioned in the manuscript is «Sonate a-moll, Op.18 pour violon et piano») was composed by Viktor Kosenko in 1927 in Zhytomyr (Ukraine).

The manuscript of the sonata still exist to the present day. Studying it, we can conclude that before the first edition of the work it was provided another, largely revised by the composer musical material, as evidenced by numerous differences in musical text, articulation, dynamics, and so on.

This publication of the sonata is based entirely on the material of the first edition of the work, which was published by the Ukrainian Music Publishing House of the Kyiv State Mustrest in 1932. This edition is not only formally the only one in the life of Viktor Kosenko, but also represents a conscious fixation of the last author’s will of the composer.
