The French composer Georges Bizet (Paris, 1838 – 1875) is not only famous because of his opera 'Carmen' and his stage music for 'L'Arlésienne'. His opera in three acts, 'Les Pêcheurs de Perles' (The Pearl Fishers) based on a libretto by Cormon and Carré was premiered without real success in Paris in 1863. Yet, this exotic musical drama, set in Ceylon (the actual Sri Lanka), boasts some very beautiful tunes, such as this duet, here in an arrangement by Willy Hautvast for two trombones and wind band.
