Barry Alan Pinkus, auch bekannt als Barry Manilow (Brooklyn, 1946) studierte am berühmten New-Yorker Konservatorium „Julliard Conservatory of Music'. Er wurde Arrangeur für die bekannte Ed Sullivan Fernsehshow. 1974 begann er eine Karriere als Solosänger und kannte sehr große Erfolge mit Nummern wie „Mandy, I write the Songs',„OneVoice' und Copacabana. Johan de Meij schrieb ein reizendes Arrangement dieses latein amerikanischen swingenden Stückes und kreierte so noch ein Evergreen des internationalen Blasmusikrepertoires.
